Beauty

Obviously the message of this film is amazing.

Although I am by no means endorsing Dove, here... since they basically tear down all of Indonesia's lowland forest to make palm oil of their soap. (Just sayin.)

I'm endorsing loving yourself and your body- no matter the shape, texture, color, etc, etc.

Nail Art: A Promising Career?

Apparently so....

Complex.com put out an article recently on the [coolest] and strangest jobs you can get in the Art World. Click this and read it. Now. Go ahead. I'll wait.

I wish I had read this list when I graduated from UArts in 2003.

Guess what one of the jobs is? Nail Art! Seriously? Sign me up!

But really... HOW do I get started in this profession immediately?

Oh and by the way... a few of my college buddies are actually on this list. Check out #s 1 and 36. Props to Joey, Brooks (FreshMeltWater), Tom and Jay (Sedso). You guys are awesome.

Studio

Here are some shots of the current state of my studio (I totally shoved all of my crap in the closet to make it look all pretty for my house blog, Secondhand Home.) Some day I'll post what it looks like while I'm working... still pretty, but a total mess of paint, jars, paper, eraser dust, pencils and more.

My Humps

These paintings were made for a show titled My Humps at Amberella last spring. (Inspired by that lovely song by the Black Eyed Peas of course!)

I've entered them in the ArtUNleashed show at UArts and you'll be able to peep/ buy them on April 13th if you are so inclined.

(Thanks to Krysta Knaster for photographing the work.)

Sharing is Caring...

My awesome friends have been sharing some great dollhouse- related artwork with me (thanks guys!) and I thought I would share as well.

Cool dollhouse art comin atcha...

Heather Benning (did I even have to question if this was going to be cool? her name is "Heather"- It's a no-brainer) created this amazing real-life dollhouse. Um? Be prepared to be amazed.

Another piece that's totally tubular is this amazing installation by Rachel Whiteread. You can check out another view here. Clearly I missed the memo on this one, since it's a bit dated, but I find her stuff inspiring none-the-less!

have you heard of Kate Benson? Her miniatures are sweet.

Okay, that's all for now. Doll-housers onward. What? I don't even know what I'm saying anymore....

A doll's House

Continuing in my recent obsession with houses, here are some dollhouse drawings I finished. (Side note: I have about twenty more of these including a drawing of a trailer doll-house... I don't have great photos as of yet but I'll get them up before long.)

The full set are all currently featured at The Ugly American Bar at Front and Federal Streets (South Philadelphia) Through mid-April.

Framing...

I'll end with a funny shot of me from photobooth.

Homies

I've been working on some new drawings and paintings, which are very different from my typical stuff. I hope you likie, because I really had fun making these.

And here are some shots of the studio while the work was in progress...
